Smart blue-green roof system

Modular trays device for retaining and dissipating rain water on a roof, with outflow control delayed, piloted by a remote system control for optimizing the water resource
Actual system proven in operational environment (competitive manufacturing).
The solution is used successfully in a structurally operational environment. The user can and wants to recommend the solution to others.
Testing plan completed
The testing plan and the BRIGAID’s Testing Innovation Framework (TIF) has been rightly applied and finished. The TRL of the innovation has been effectively reached.
The basic system has just been validated on experimental sites in France and Belgium (Antwerp) after real-time measurements (hydric characterisation) and analysis program. Some real installations have been completed and are still monitored in view of the integrated control system. Further extensions are being investigated, such as the integration with a real-time weather forecasting and control system. This is done in cooperation with Sumaqua (sumaqua.be).

How does it work?

Overlaid plastic trays assembled on the roof capture and store rain water, regulate the outflow slowly to the sewer system and dissipate water by evapotranspiration of plants through capillarity wicks, sucked from the reservoir tray.
