Water+ Furrow Diker

The Water+ Furrow Diker is an innovative equipment which allows for the maximization of the collection and harvesting of rainfall water and irrigation drainage at the root plant zone. It is operated with wheel tractors of 35-80 HP. Soil modeling with dike furrows shape is carried in: a) row crops when height is of 30-60 cm; b) vineyards, during spring-summer-autumn period.
System complete and qualified.
Technology has been proven to work in its final form and under expected conditions. In almost all cases, this TRL represents the end of true system development. Examples include developmental test and evaluation (DT&E) of the system in its intended weapon system to determine if it meets design specifications.
Testing plan completed
The testing plan and the BRIGAID’s Testing Innovation Framework (TIF) has been rightly applied and finished. The TRL of the innovation has been effectively reached.
Investment ready
The business plan for this innovation has been evaluated by The Funding Company and it is considered to be ready for investment.
The machinery was previously tested and demonstrated (1988-1989) in a relevant environment managed by the Institute of Research for Irrigation and Drainage Baneasa-Giurgiu. Due to lack of funds, the prototype was destroyed and not pursued further. With the current project, we expect the creation of a new prototype including its testing and adaptation to the Phase "Series 0".

How does it work?

The Water Plus+ Furrow Diker is an innovative equipment which maximize the collection and harvesting of rainfall water and irrigation drainage, and prevent the generation of runoff and soil erosion. The machinery is operated with wheel tractors of 35-80 HP. Soil modeling with dike furrows is applied: a) in row crops, when crop height reaches 30-60 cm (this accounts between May, 15th – June, 15th for spring crops, and between July, 15th – August, 15th for summer crops); b) in vineyards, when during the spring-summer period (March, 15th-September, 1st) and/or the autumn period (October, 15th –November, 15th). Distance between furrows ranges between 70 cm. (typical for weeding crops) and 2.2 m. (vineyards).
