This innovation aims to prevent flooding by planting techniques that are environmentally friendly. It focuses on two alternative solutions. 1) The installation of Coir Logs at the bottom of the river and 2) the planting of three (3) floor vegetation, to enable flood elimination in natural form. Therefore, the innovation is to use of environmentally friendly techniques, like the use of rolls (Coir Logs) instead of conventional methods such as steel nets, concrete slope, fencing and gabions. Combined with use of vegetation, which has a protective function, creates a green corridor, serving as shelter for living organisms and the well-functioning of flora and fauna in the area.

The project's application will make it possible to improve the flood conditions and ensure the protection of areas along the Erzeni river bed. By using a variety of natural materials such as Coir log combined with vegetation, this method not only protects the river bank, but also maintains their ecological continuity and stability. Materials used for river rehabilitation will be environmentally friendly.

The system’s main components have been individually tested, and an initial integration has been completed.
The re-naturalization or planting process of plants is made in such a way that they can be easily rooted and do not require special treatment, such as reed, willow, poplar suitable for the study area. The proposed project focuses on two alternative solutions. The first focuses on the installation of Coir Logs at the bottom of the river and secondly the planting of three floor vegetations, to enable flood elimination in natural form.
Limitations/conditions under which this innovation does not work or is less effective
We do not believe there are any limitations/conditions that the innovation does not work or is less effective. Almost all this project has the main objective to increase the natural stability of the Erzen River bed and to increase native riparian vegetation within the studied area thus creating green corridors.
Added value
The use and combination of these two natural and peaceful techniques with the environment is an innovation for our country, in Albania. It is consistently thought that the material used to create Coconut Coir Logs is replaced with another material (e.g. with tree shells or/andwhich is more efficient compressed biomassdry grass), as peaceful and biodegradable at the same time. Access achieves greater success since cost to build and maintain is minimal compared to other techniques. The combination of the installation technique of Coir Logs and the planting of vegetation makes it possible to create a green corridor but at the same time recover the phenomenon of erosion and flooding of agricultural lands.
