REDE research group specializes in two core research areas. In Innovation and Operational Excellence, REDE explores business strategy, public policy, and organizational transformation, with a focus on methodologies that support Industry 4.0, sustainability, and social innovation. In Energy and Environmental Economics, the team studies energy markets, climate policy, taxation, and sustainable mobility, providing insights into the transition toward low-carbon and resilient societies.
REDE is a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Vigo, bringing together over 30 researchers from the fields of economics, business, and management engineering. Based at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, the group combines academic rigor with applied research to address global challenges, particularly those related to innovation, energy, and climate change.

REDE has a strong track record in European and national research initiatives, with particular expertise in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The group contributed to the H2020 4I-TRACTION project, supporting the development of transformative EU climate policies and conducting in-depth case studies on energy and environmental taxation in Spain. It also played a pivotal role in the POCTEP MarRISK project, where it developed a climate resilience index for port operations—recognized by the IPCC for its methodological contribution.
Currently, REDE continues its work through the H2020 TransformAr and Horizon Europe SystR projects. In TransformAr, the team has developed a Resilience Index to support climate adaptation in Galicia’s mussel aquaculture sector. In SystR, REDE coordinates a work package on impact assessment and replication, contributing to systemic approaches to regional adaptation across Europe.
With numerous publications in leading international journals such as Journal of Operations Management, Regional Studies, Energy Policy, and Climate Policy, REDE stands out for its interdisciplinary approach and commitment to research with societal impact.
