LET-Ports autonomously tracks emission levels in key port activities. It integrates remote/in-situ sensing, computer vision, and analytics for real-time air pollutant and GHG monitoring. Scalable and adaptable, it provides actionable data for adaptation and mitigation strategies, enhancing local air quality management.
- High emission level concentrated in given port activities (car terminals, logistics, cruise activity
- Personnel, Passengers and local communities health risk mitigation due to air pollution
- Information, notification and projection of extreme events.
- Environmental indicators embedded in local traffic management within the port (and in future scenarios around the port too)
- Emissions measurement for corporate disclosures (including scope 3) applicable only with “bigger” projects in duration and scale.

The main components of the system have been tested separately, and an initial integration exercise has been conducted.
Innovative solution that will monitor and forecast increased GHGs emissions that could be harmful for the personnel, thepassengers and the citizens that live close to the port:
LET-Ports monitor locally (at a gate level) concentration of air pollutants andGHGs emission levels. This is “coupled” with polluting activities that are identified and frequent in ports (e.g. car engines running incar terminals/ parking before and/or during embarkation, ship engineless running, high traffic in neighboring roads). These data canproduce insights, warnings, and predictions of several layers according to needs and attributes of each gate, port activity and ordifferent ports). Target is all Mediterranean ports to benefit for the results and scale the solution. Technical-digital solution to monitorand predict high GHGs emissions based on input – data such as climatic-weather parameters, ship-cruise operations, number ofvehicles etc. and to propose adaptation measures to improve air quality and prevent health issues:
LET-Ports is a technical serviceas described that can offers results/information digitally through APIs to integrate in existing systems, SW to create notifications &alerts, as well as information to be displayed in digital panels/screens. The key relations that are tracked are between emissionlevels and air pollution, based on climatic-weather parameters, operations (costal shipping and/or cruising), number and type ofvehicles. Results is informative decisions on strategic adaptation developments and investments, as well as micro-regulationsuggestion for mitigating extreme events and health hazards.
LET-Ports overall has been developed independently. However, this is done from insights, development, and results of several R&D and commercial projects that WaltR has realize through the years. Conceptually is a comparable/compatible service to LET-Airports that is implemented in CDG airport France, and is soon to be industrialized in airports in France and the worlds. Aspects of LET-ports derive from work conducted under the AI4Cities project that WaltR with Lacroix Innovations had one of the winning project in smart city and traffic micro-regulations development. “Bigger” implementations of the LET-ports service that include satellite data, and wider areas monitoring, integrate results that were developed under commercial and/or R&D projects from ESA, CNES, and the EC.
Limitations that might effect LET-Ports mainly have to do with local regulations in installing the equipment and the camera(s). The SW that is used to do commuter vision and image analysis is GDPR compliant and can be adapted to follow any needed guidelines. Security of the equipment against damage and/or theft is crucial, as well as steady connectivity. These are the perquisites to collect the data timely and accurately and to avoid gaps. Beyond that the system/service have minimum limitations in order to perform.
