Resilience MeetUp is a web platform centralizing data on extreme heat events in Athens. It offers real-time updates, content creation, citizen engagement, and feedback tools. It enhances climate response and long-term resilience planning.
- Lack of a unified repository for all projects managed by ADDMA or several Departments of the City of Athens.
- Weak dissemination of projects’ outcomes resulting in limited public awareness about climate-related challenges.
- Old-school techniques to receive feedback from end-users, including citizens not familiar with technologies.
- Lack of access and easy navigation to all groups of citizens.
Addresses: Droughts, Heatwaves, Wildfires
See more information about this level and the TRL and SRL levels.
The system’s main components have been individually tested, and an initial integration has been completed.
Resilience MeetUp enhances Athens’ capacity to protect vulnerable populations during extreme heat events by providing real-time updates, alerts, and guidance. The platform centralizes data from multiple sources, facilitates community engagement, and gathers feedback to inform climate-response strategies. Dashboards for decision-makers will be developed to streamline data analysis and reporting, enabling more effective responses to health and economic impacts. By integrating diverse data and stakeholder inputs, Resilience MeetUp supports comprehensive, data-driven climate resilience planning.
Members of the AMARANTHUS group have developed multiple stakeholder platforms for different communities with various functionalities. They are usually custom-made and are built to meet specific demands. One of the problems public administrations are facing during the realization of publicly beneficial projects is communicating the benefits of these innovations to concerned citizens and to collect their input when needed. To achieve this, citizens should be already engaged and informed of relevant initiatives, so they can offer their input as part of a co-creation / consultation process. We envision such a platform to advance the communication of resilience-related innovations in the City of Athens.
The platform will need to be constantly updated with new content and to be maintained. The municipality needs to allocate funds for the maintenance of the platform once it is set and in use. Everything should also be fully translated in 2 languages (Greek and English) to cover the needs of the Athens international community as well.
