ARIS is conceived as an online GIS tool to consult precision weather and climate information tailored to the needs of the agricultural sector. The system will be designed to provide information for the entire future time scale, i.e. from nowcasting to the end of the century as well as historical climate information.
This innovation addresses the climate-related hazards of heavy precipitation, droughts, and multi-hazard scenarios. It solves critical issues by providing high-quality, localized climate and weather data tailored to the agricultural sector. The innovation tackles the shortage of information on climate-crop relationships, outdated climate projections, and low-resolution weather models.
It bridges the gap by offering detailed, calibrated, and easy-to-interpret climate projections based on the latest CMIP6 updates, presented in user-friendly formats.
Additionally, it centralizes this data on a single platform, ensuring that farmers and agricultural stakeholders have access to all the necessary information for climate adaptation and decision-making.
See more information about this level and the TRL and SRL levels.
The system’s main components have been individually tested, and an initial integration has been completed.
The ARIS is a user-friendly tool that integrates all the meteorological and climatic information of agricultural interest for the region of Sardinia. This information represents an added value in decision making, both in the short and long term, as it will be designed together with the recipients themselves, taking into account the needs of each one of them. The platform includes a wide range of basic meteorological variables (temperature, wind, precipitation…) as well as derived indicators (heat and water stress, risk of from stand burns, presence of diseases…) at a local scale (100x100m) for different time horizons (short-term, seasonal and future projections). ARIS will thus complete one of the challenges posed for Sardinia.

The main limitation is the lack of both meteorological and agricultural data with which to feed, on the one hand, weather and climate forecasting and, on the other hand, the definition of agricultural indicators of interest.
