Development of an easy-to-use software tool for monitoring impact of climaterelated disasters
Developed by UCL (Université catholique de Louvain)
CRED will adapt the EMDAT global database for the EU level, increasing the resolution to district (admin 3) and state (admin 2), by collecting more detailed data. This tool will be called eEM-DAT (European EM-DAT), and will be tested in 3 or 4 pilot countries.

A tool that used a standardised and structured method to collect, validate and analyse climate-related disaster impact data. This leads to an evidence base for the development of disaster risk reduction policy. The tool is being pilot-tested in the appropriate ministries or institutes of EU countries, in order to assess the feasibility for national authorities to use it.
Limitations/conditions under which this innovation does not work or is less effective
A short training session is recommended for new users.

The main components of the system have been tested separately, and an initial integration exercise has been conducted.
